DESCRIPTION

A large and heavy handmade octagonal redware slip decorated charger.  A rich deep reddish brown with pale yellow and green slip.  The design at the center is of a Pea Fowl on a Tulip Flower with a tulip vine border and mottled green accents. A charming design based on one of the early Pennsylvania Redware potters of the 18th and early 19th centuries.

A gorgeous glaze and a simply beautiful piece of revivalist redware.  The impresed mark of James Seagraves on the reverse.

Size:  11" x 11" and 1-1/2" high
