DESCRIPTION


A big handsome early cast iron kettle from the Civil War Era c.1860's.  This is a 3 Gallon Cauldron with a flared rim, it has two raised horizontal mold rings and two vertical casting lines.  There is a stove collar at the bottom and three short legs, each showing good wear.  It has arch ears with a wrought iron bale handle.  It retains the original side mount tipper with ring grasp.  On the underside of the body there is a long unpolished gate mark.   It is in excellent condition with no repairs or damage.  Very heavy weighs 10-1/2 lbs.  

CONDITION

Excellent condition, no damage,

no breaks in the metal, no repairs.  

This has not been cleaned.

It retains the original patina.

There is light surface rust on interior and exterior.

Size: 16" high with handle fully extended - 10" to rim of pot - 11" across the rim of the pot - 35" in circumference

Good and heavy it weighs 10-1/2 lb.
