a charming little folk art footstool, a handmade replica with a lovely 'old
Looks antique right down to the open
mortised seat and the handsome worn green paint finish, but this lovely little
footstool is new and was handmade by a very skilled local
Made as a replica of an early primitive
Pennsylvania German footstool, it was copied from one in his collection.
Beautifully proportioned there are aprons at both the front and the
back of the footstool and the curving front legs are so typical of the early
PA. German baroque style. This even has a tiny little drawer at the front
with a little porcelain handle that shows wear. The open mortised seat is
well constructed, good and strong and tight. The 'old green paint finish'
is handsome, looks the part and could easily be mistaken for an antique
original finish. In fact most folks would think the footstool is also
an antique ... it's a beauty of a well made replica!
