A  FOLK  ART  REPLICA

'Primitive Old Paint Finish'

Pennsylvania German Footstool

Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

DESCRIPTION

Found locally in Lancaster County, a charming little folk art footstool, a handmade replica with a lovely 'old paint' finish.

Looks antique right down to the open mortised seat and the handsome worn green paint finish, but this lovely little footstool is new and was handmade by a very skilled local craftsman.

Made as a replica of an early primitive Pennsylvania German footstool, it was copied from one in his collection.  Beautifully proportioned there are aprons at both the front and the back of the footstool and the curving front legs are so typical of the early PA. German baroque style. This even has a tiny little drawer at the front with a little porcelain handle that shows wear. The open mortised seat is well constructed, good and strong and tight.  The 'old green paint finish'  is handsome, looks the part and could easily be mistaken for an antique original finish.  In fact most folks would think the footstool is also an antique ... it's a beauty of a well made replica!

The footstool weighs 3-1/2 lbs.

It's very sturdy and strong.

A good size it stands 9" high.

With a surface measurement of  15-1/2"  x  7"
