About The Painting ...

'Latimer Lighthouse'

Latimer Reef Lighthouse is on Fisher's Island Sound on Long Island, New York.
The lighthouse has undergone several changes over the years
but it is still the original building constructed in 1884.

It is reportedly named after James Latemore, who, during the Revolutionary War
embarked in a skiff to spy on a British Fleet anchored in Fishers Island Sound.
An alert Redcoat aboard one of the British ships spotted Latemore’s small craft
and a small boat gave chase. Latemore ran aground on his namesake reef,
and the British soon captured him and took him back to their fleet. At sunrise the following day,
he was hanged aboard one of the British frigates.

The painting is on Strathmore 140 lb. paper and painted with Winsor & Newton Professional Grade paints.
It is double matted with museum quality mat boards, and unframed.

The image size is:  7" x 12-1/2"  Overall size with mats:  12" x 17"
