Antique Colonial Era Primitive

Hand Forged Iron

-  Small Tasting Spoon  -

Early 1700's

DESCRIPTION

This is an authentic Colonial Era circa early 1700's hand forged iron small tasting spoon. From a fine early local collection in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania of Early American cooking utensils.

Described to us by the previous owner as a 'DUG' spoon, this has a dark heavy patination to the iron.  Most likely used as a tasting spoon, the size is quite small.

Overall just 6-1/2" long and the bowl is 1-1/2" across and quite shallow.  Worked from one single piece of iron. This has a beautiful twist to the handle, and a finely fashioned shepherds crook hanging hook.

It is strong and sturdy, no weakness or loss to the metal.
