Antique Colonial Era Kitchen Utensil

FORGED IRON

Small Bowl Tasting Ladle

c.1750

DESCRIPTION

This is an authentic Colonial Era circa mid 1700's wrought iron tasting ladle.

A handsome small ladle with a deep bowl. It was worked from just one single piece of iron. Used for sampling, tasting while cooking at the open hearth.

Well designed with a nice offset to the handle where it meets the bowl. The bowl was shaped over a mold, beaten by the smithy into this small round deep shape. The bowl is just 2-1/4" across and 1" deep. A beautifully designed handle that is round then flattened and narrowed ending in a nicely curved hanging loop.

Well worn showing plenty of evidence of age and use and still in excellent condition with a handsome patina. No thin spots, no breaks in the metal, no repairs.

And a wonderful small size!

A beauty for your early cooking utensil collection!

Size: 12-3/4" Long
