Circa 1880

DESCRIPTION

A large 19th century antique brown transferware platter.

Measures 18" x 14" and is in Excellent Condition.

A beautiful aesthetic pattern on a pure white body. This was made by the Staffordshire England Pottery of Powell, Bishop & Stonier and has their underglaze mark on the reverse.  This design by PB&S was given the registration number Rd2665 in 1884 by the British Patent Office.

A fabulous transfer design of delicate tracery and elegant botanicals with underglaze color to the largest of the blooms.  A handsome molded shape to the wide rim.

This has a lusterous glaze and is in excellent condition.  It's good and deep, the rim measures 2" high.

When struck, the platter has a fine and deep resonant bell like ring ... you'll only hear that with a piece of china that is in pristine condition and this surely is that ...
and of  SUPERIOR  QUALITY !
