DESCRIPTION
A True Museum Quality American
Coverlet!
In wonderful condition with rich
vivid red wool and natural cotton.
This was woven in 1876 for the Philadelphia
Centennial
Exposition.
It is a Real Beauty! All to often these antique coverlets show colors that
are washed out and fibers that are worn from years of continual use.
This one is in unblemished condition,
near perfect, a seamless full loom width true Museum Quality Antique Coverlet.
It is identical to the one in the Philadelphia Museum, right down to
the mistake in the weave on either side that should show the full date, only
a partial date is visible. Probably produced by Henry Gabriel at his
Allentown PA. Woolen Mill for the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition.
It has a hand turned hem at the
top and self fringe along both sides, hand attached fringe across the bottom.
In excellent condition with a good hand to the fibers, still strong and sturdy
with absolutely no bunching, lies flat it has not been washed. A real
beauty, a true Museum Quality antique coverlet with only a tiny bit of fringe
loss, no moth damage, no holes, no thin spots, no odors, no wear, no stains
or discolorations. Impeccable!
