DESCRIPTION

Of an incredible size and fabulous weight, here's a splendid early 1700's Colonial American antique turned wood mortar & pestle made of Rosewood.

Wonderfully worn overall, there is no mistaking just how very early this massive mortar and pestle is.

This huge rosewood mortar and pestle is a full 9-1/2" high at the rim and with the pestle placed inside the mortar it stands 21" high. We show it in one of our images placed next to two typical sized mortar and pestles that are 7" and 6" high.  (those will both be available in another one of our sales).

And the weight of this rosewood mortar and pestle is also incredible, it weighs over 13-lbs.!

Beautiful color and grain to the rosewood.  The mortar and pestle show age wear, nicks and gouges overall and have shrinkage lines and cracks on the interior of the mortar and exterior.  Still they both display handsomely.

The rich grain pattern rosewood mortar measures a full 9-1/2" high  - 8-1/2" across the rim - 7" across the base and is 24" in circumference.

The pestle is 17" long and 11" in circumference.

The set is extremely heavy weighs over 13-lbs.

Extra large 9-1/2" rosewood mortar and pestle to the left,

placed next to two typical sized mortar and pestles that are 7" and 6" high.

With the pestle placed inside the mortar it stands 21" high
