A Handsome Old Farm Measure ... and it's good and
Here's a beauty of an antique primitive farm tool made of oak
with a handsome patina,
nice pumpkin pine coloring to the wood.
Big and very heavy with thick hand cut wooden staves and two
'Piggen Ear' extended staves on either side.
It has a single wrought iron hoop at the top, hand hammered
and riveted. At the middle and the bottom it has rare sapling bound interlocking
fingered hoops made of oak that are well worn. The staves were all hand cut,
their surface is worn smooth from time and use. The base is thick hand cut
oak. Both the interior and exterior of the base shows good wear. When you
run your hand over the interior, the grain of the wood is prominent, you
can feel the wear to the staves. And when you look at the base, you can also
see the good evidence of wear and age ... a handsome good size primitive
Weighs nearly 6-lbs. Shows lots of old wear and is still good
and strong and usable.
14-1/4" high to the top of the extended staves - 13-3/4" high
to the rim
10" across the top and 12" across the base.
A Beauty of an Old Primitive Measure!
Excellent - A Fabulous antique primitive measure still strong
