c.1920 Antique Amish Made Quilt

Lancaster County, Pennsylvania


This vibrant Turkey Red & White all cotton Lancaster County, Pennsylvania AMISH quilt is completly pieced and quilted by hand, made circa 1920.  The pattern name is CROSSES & LOSSES.

Measures 72" x 72" and is still in very good conditon with only a few small old repairs to the piecing.  No wear and no spots or stains.  There is a little light scattered surface soil on the reverse.  The binding is stil in fine condition.  Overall the quilt is still strong and sturdy.

The turkey red shirting material is in several different shades of red that all blend quite handsomely.  A very eye catching quilt when displayed on a wall.

The quilting was done in a diamond pattern at 8 stitches to the inch.  The 2 inch border was quilted in a diagonal pattern.

The binding is turned from the back and stitched neatly by hand.  The cotton batting is thin.  All cotton fabrics.  Backing is white.
